Personal background
Hello! I'm a student from Orkney, Scotland.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that SETI has a significance for everyone on this planet. I don't believe that there is a single person on Earth who is not curious as to the existence of extra-terrestrials. SETI@home is an ingenious idea that I am happy to participate in. Its a shame that more people/organisations don't lend their support- so many computers wasting so many clock cycles doing nothing.

I personally believe that many intelligent forms of ET are out there, somewhere. Realistically, they are more likely to find us and I believe that some already have. Thats not to stop us trying though.

Can anyone tell me why NASA and co. are so sure that ET will be carbon-based, water-dependant life forms? Surely this is a rather blinkered look at life!!
