Personal background
I am a 35 y/o Doctor in Medicine from Puerto Rico, I became a SETI@homer the day after it was released. I have been interested in UFO and ET life since i was 10 y/o, passing the summer vacations in my uncle's farm in El Yunque PR. I saw all kinds of lights and anything that flew over was an UFO even if it said American Airlines on it's tail. I saturated my uncle's family with this so much that a week after I left, my cousin was feeding the bunnies when suddenly she heard a noise, she pointed the flashlight to the fence and saw two pig leg's , she started screaming " A martian , a martian", (THere had been a TV special about alians and they showed a "Pig legged" Alien). My uncle grabbed a sack of stones and a machete and went over to the cages where my cousin had seen the "martian" and said..." I come in peace".... He was answered " oink oink " by his pig that had escaped it's pen that night... Some martian ah?.... Since then I have wondered if there is really life out there. BTW the roasted pig was good....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yeah ET life probably exists but I dont think they know it yet...
Transmit a beacon? Sure, what inconvenience will it bring (except maybe a Vogon invasion to make a interstellar highway) Just kidding

I run Seti@home because first they are originated at the Arecibo Radiotelescope in Puerto Rico and second I like to think there are a bunch of Fourier Transforms being done in my computer to help find ET
