Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yeah, I think there is some sort of life out there. I don't know if its findable, given that they/it might not even fit any of our preconceptions. The primary benefit would be to give us a goal beyond the confines of this planet. We as a race have two choices if we plan on surviving for thousands of years into the future, either take real good care of this planet or expand off this small rock.

As for the risk Science fiction has covered that pretty well, as a world we can barely throw 3 people to the moon. And given our current technology, we are already a beacon in space.

I have been running SETI@home for many years now because you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.
