Profile: Craig Nelson

Personal background
Hi, my name is Craig Nelson and I'm an engineering geologist living in Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm principal consultant for Western GeoLogic an engineering, environmental, and geologic consulting firm. I have over 20 years of experience managing a wide variety of projects in engineering and environmental geology. My expertise in geologic hazards mapping, analysis and mitigation stem from successful completion of numerous geologic hazard studies, fault and seismic investigations, rockfall probability assessments, landslide and debris flow studies, and slope stability projects. I've completed geologic studies and risk analysis for engineered structures, public facilities, subdivisions, dams, highways, and corridors throughout the western U.S. and Canada.

I enjoy all the outdoor activities available in Utah, working on rennovation of my historic craftsman bungalow home, restoration of a fleet of beater muscle cars, dirt biking, and motorcycle road trips.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is anyone out there? Who really knows, but running the Seti@home screensaver on my computers seems like a worthwhile effort and it gives them something to do when I'm not around. Also, I like the idea of a worldwide community of over 3 million people coming together to participate in this activity.
