Personal background
I'm a computer programmer, from Colombia, 32 years old, like classical music, (I'm a trained musician, I sing & play the French horn), sci fi stuff, etc.
While I honestly think that if there is intelligent life out there they must use something more advanced that radio waves I think that this program is a wonderful start to be concious about how small we are and about all the posibilities that the universe as a whole open for us.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. To me extraterrestrial life must exist. If we were "created" someone had to perform that job and qualify as extraterrestrial life. Otherwise, if life appeared here as a natural process, the chances of it to happen in other world are to big to be ignored.

2. I am not too sure if we should "publicize" our existence, but we are already transmitting a lot of information as Radio waves.

3. I think the project is too interesting even if the chances of success are slim. For the current technology this is the right approach. Perhaps the program should try to publicize it self due to the existence of different projects like Folding@home etc. that could take the computer cicles to different projects.
