I am only 18, but I already know pretty much what I want to do in life. Right now, I plan on heading into Computer Science. I've also thought about working on computer networks. I also have a hobbist interest in space tech/travel/news.
Computer specs:
Compaq Presario
900 MHz AMD Athlon
30 Gig hard drive
19 inch monitor
8X CDRW
I've gotton into the habit leaving the computer on as much as I can, I hope I don't inflate too much of my parents electric bill?!
P.S. After getting burnt out on doing the seti thing. I've come back, but this time plan on processing slow and steady for awhile longer. My personal website is http://www.ericbrake.ws
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm pretty sure that ET's exist somewhere in the universe. Whether their actually close enough to have some sort conversation with them is entirely different. I think we will not likely see aliens landing on the front lawn of the White House saying "Take me to your Leader!" First Contact will likely be through Long distance radio transmission. I think sending out a beacon would be a waste of time since there's so much sky to cover and we also have to transmit constantly for many hundreds of years in order for there to be enough time for ET to hear us. I run Seti@Home because I recently felt the need to do something with my computer other than to just let it sit there. What it was doing wasn't as important.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
