Profile: Spanish_Prisoner

Personal background
My name is Thomas

I live in Switzerland and work for an IT-Company. I'm 20 years old and what I want to do in the future is to make movies. I like to write scripts, shoot movies, and discuss about them. That's why I'm interested in many things going on in this world, as well as the search for extra terrestrial life forms.

You may want to know why I called myself "Spanish Prisoner". Well, for sure, I'm not Spanish, but I watched the film from David Mamet which title is the same. I thought it would be a cool nickname. I use it everywhere.

Greetings
Thomas
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think extraterrestrial life exists somewhere far. I don't think we'll ever discover them in the next few decades. I think it's too early, and of course our technology and knowledge gets better exponentially, the universe is to big right now. The benefits are unimanigable, I think. The technology (when they're intelligent), the biology, a lot of more questions can be answered. The dangers lie in how we react to the new discovery. Are we cautious enough, are we imune against them and their stuffs?

2. Of course we should transmit a beacon. We should put in our entire up-to-date knowledge of our science. and a route to the earth and some history of ourselves.

3. I run it because I think this is a cool idea and this is how you can benefit from many computers who have too much power or being not used. keep going on with this project. maybe you should see if some of the users may come back to use the seti@home software to help finish some more datapackages.

is there any statistic, where i can see how many packages have been finished and how many are left or how many are coming in every day?
