| I am a US Citizen and a Permanent Resident of Canada. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Astrophysics and a Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering, both from the University of Illinois. Currently, I am an IT Consultant for small business and home users. I am Owner and CTO of "Bits&Bytes Computer Consulting". I love reading about most anything, especially works by Stephen Hawking. I love bowling, the great outdoors, pool, table tennis, and playing cards. I am also an avid Star Trek fan....."Live long and prosper". |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| I am certian that extraterrestrial life exists. Why? Because from the wonderful diversity that Our Planet Earth offered, sprung a species (Humanity) that has a lot to learn to earn the title of "Intelligent Species". Placed on the ever so much more grander cosmological scale, there must indeed be even more intelligent (well, at least "advanced") and diverse species within the boundaries of our ever-expanding universe. I believe that we will find them (or they will find us) someday, whether through the efforts of SETI or from space travel itself. Yes we should send such a beacon for others to find in their search of the heavens. I would contend that anything with a message of greetings!, where we are from, and that we are in search of the truth, written in simple binary language, would be the most basic and likely understandable beacon. I run SETI@home because of my view that the Universe is controlled by the laws of physics, written by God, and that He would want all of His Children to meet someday. |
