Profile: Voltaire Dupo

Personal background
I'm an engineer and educator working with medical equipment for one of the hospitals in the island of Luzon, Philippines. But I do a lot of design work (well trial and error work at least) with medical test equipment and other scientific equipment used by entomogists in the field.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a child I got brought up with the influence of science fiction novels (Jules Verns,H.G. Wells, Arthur Clark) and Science Fictions shows like Star Trek. The idea of intelligent life existing on other planets was presented as a definitely possible. And for me SETI is part of the embodiment of this great possibility, and seti@home program has made it possible for individuals with no exemptional qualifications to be apart of this great human endevour to search for Intelligent life in the universe, to answer the timeless question of human kind "Are we really alone in the universe?" It also allow us to contribute to discoveries of new celestial phenomenon.
