Personal background
Hi

I'm your average 35 year old male living in the UK, My main hobby is computers, it would appear over the last couple of years 'much to my wifes annoyance' that I have become hooked and developed a passion for all things PC from sorting small problems for freinds to building complete systems and just lateley I seem to get a lot of pleasure out of modding and overclocking - Luckily I havn't fried anything just yet!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
In my opinion I think that the SETI@home program is a pretty cool idea! not only is the SETI interface pretty cool as a screen saver also the numerous SETI add-ons available make for some pretty interesting viewing - I especially like the Star map - I also reckon sharing the 'number crunching game' between thousands of PC's is a fantastic way of sharing some things that are normally unavailable to the general public, You see when we all work together we must have at least a billion GHz of Processor power - Now there's a goal for Intel or AMD.

Do I think Extraterrestrial Intelligence exists ? Good question - I think to say that we are the only living planet is foolish in view of the enourmity of space discovered and un-discovered, the probability of us being the only world that's alive is pretty remote, however I think finding another species that is at the same evolutionary state we are at is prbobably very unlikely if Extraterristrial Intelligence does exist I think it will either be new born or highly evolved.

I think if exraterrestrial intelligence exists it will not be us that finds it, It will be us who are found, as I think although our technology is advanced it is still in it's infancy stages to what it will one day become.
