Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, I think that the first contact won't be so spectacular as in movies or books. I rather think that we'll see a thing that barely could be caled a lifeform! I don't believe that ufo is an consequence of alien existance. it's rather some top secret military stuff or something. Transmitting a beacon isn't a good idea. I doubt that there are some green or gray aliens waiting with radiotelescopes to pick up our transmission. I don't even think that they could build such kind of equipment. In my opinion, they aren't a humanoids, or even some bug-looking creatures. an extraterrestial lifeform may be a giant ocean or nebula. It's not building cities, radiotelescopes, or transmitting devices. That means that we're looking for extraterrestial inteligence in completely wrong way. Do you think that a lifeform that evolved in completely different enviromnent than humans could be similar to us? I doubt it. The real alien is something that we'd couldn't even understeand. Much less than making contact with it. So why am I in seti? Well... it's always better than sitting and doing nothing...
