Hi. I live close to London where although I now retired disabled I work as a PT volunteer at my local hospital. I am currently 54 years old and my interests revolve around my computer and the various community projects that I get involved in. Although wheelchair bound I also enjoy travel to other countries.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that everyone involved with seti thinks that it is a good idea otherwise they would not become involved themselves. Indeed I somtimes pass seti on to people in the UK who would wish to delve deeper in such things.
The only reservation that I have is that we are too limited in our search, for there may be commuication technologies that we have yet to discover.
Do I think that Extra.t Life exists......well I think that many would like to either believe or presume so. For myself I simply hope so. More than this I hope that there are friendly and co-operative beings out there.
Should we transmit a beacon........perhaps here I am not so sure since we may alert hostile or predetory beings to our existance and/or where abouts.
Why do I run seti@home......simple, to help make a difference....to be part of man's greatest quest.....and though I have little , to give and to share that which I do have.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
