I'm 18 and a freshman at UCSC where I'm majoring in Bioinformatics with a Philosophy minor. I love doing extreme sports, discussing religion/spirituality/philosophy, and playing computer games. Yep.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I absolutely believe in the existance of life on other planets. To think otherwise when there are basically limitless other planets/stars is both egotistical and ignorant. There is as always the danger of signaling a war-like race, but equally likely to signal ones that either have don't care either way for our civilization or one that would help "advance" us. Interested to see if they have any idea of religion or freewill or whether they're simply human obsessions of being important.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
