Personal background
I work as general manager for a large footwear company in El Salvador. I've been interested in computers from a very young age from writing very basic computer programs to fiddling around with a midi keyboard.

I recently rescued an old Celeron from the company scrap-heap and set it up as a Linux server in my home. It's amazing what you can do with modest hardware when you use Linux. While I'm at work the linux box does simple chores of downloading podcasts (bashpodder), searching the newsgroups for interesting articles, and runs seti@home.

Not a rivetting or interesting profile... but then again I've a degree in business, not litterature. :-P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There's got to be life out there... In the movie "Contact", they say that if otherwise it'd be an aweful waste of space (no pun intended). When you consider how large the universe is you must also consider that the chances of other life out there are pretty great.

I think Seti@home is a fantastic idea. Get everyone who wants to help involved and build the largest parallel computing platform in the world to solve perhaps the largest questing in the world. I just hope that, as earthlings, we figure out how to deal with each other before we try to figure out how to deal with extra terrestials.
