Profile: Big B

Personal background
I'm a 21 year old male, born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I currently live in Colorado Springs, CO, and am an avid SETI fan. In case you're wondering about the "Monsieur" title, my family is French-Canadian. In fact, there's a town named after us in Quebec! I work in the medical field, in Information Technology. Translation: I'm the annoying guy who fixes your computer. ;) My friends call me Big B. Outside of computers and communications, my hobbies include plastic model building, skiing, and music- I'm a bassist.

I've heen a SETI member for over a year- this is a new account. I began crunching WU's on a Power Macintosh 6500, running at 250 mhz, using the graphical client. Well, I've grown to love *nix, and now, in addition to the 6500, which runs LinuxPPC, I crunch on a dual processor Power Mac G4 (533 mhz). It runs two instances of the Darwin command-line client. You may also be wondering, "Why does this guy use Macs?" Well, I've been using Apple computers since I was little (I still have my Apple IIgs Woz edition!). I think they're the perfect combination of style and performance.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe intelligent extraterrestrial life exists elsewhere in the universe, even in our own galaxy. I mean come on, out of the trillions of stars out there, how could life *not* exist elsewhere? I think Earth already is a beacon for other civilizations to find. Most television and radio signals we emit escape into space. I run SETI@home to aid in "the search". After all, that's what the project is about, right?
