Personal background
I am 34 and a self employed internet business owner. I enjoy all computer related activities and spend most of my time at a computer. I try to go mountain biking when the opportunity comes. I served in the U.S. Army for 9 1/2 years and spent lots of time in the field looking at the stars. I have always enjoyed science and plan to be an astro-physicist to see if I may be able to use my abilities to help with space exploration.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that extraterrstial life exists. Religion confirms that there is life out there. Mathmaticly speaking there has to be life out there. I am not sure that we will ever discover it any time soon. The expanse is so large that I know that we will have to travel much farther in space than we already have. Space is an unfriendly enviroment to us right now and until we can make it more friendly, long journeys are not going to happen. We will most likely discover it after that. There are dangers and benifits to any discovery, except this discovery might have the ability to react to the intrusion more effectively. Beacons have been transmitted for a long time so why should we stop? We should send anything that will not leave a bad taste in anyones mouth. I run this program because I want to be apart of what happens when contact is made. If this programs finds something that is undeniably E.T., that might be the push we need to make a manned deep space exploration possible.
