Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do belive that there is extraterrestial intelligence on other planets, and I do belive that humans will discover it within my own life time.

If we where to transmit a signal to outerspace I think we should send some sort of mathematically encoded transmission, because of that signals might get distorted when traveling long distances, bounceing of asteoids maybe, and the only way to "fix the signal" would be to have some sort of MD5 Checksum tag to the message, that way if the signal was broken, the listner would know and try to fix the broken message or wait for another signal.

I run setiathome since my computers always are on, and since I have computer power to spare while Im sleeping and working, why not use it for something useful, like helping mankind finding out if we are alone or not.

Tho, I would like to know exactly what the seti client is doing, and I would like to see some sort of "this package is containing this type of data" and then a status report, when it's deliverd back to Seti. This because I have no clue what tha client is doing to day, I could just aswell be cracking cryptography keys or something like that.
