Personal background
I'm currently living in Perth Western Australia. Married, 3 kids, 2 cats and have been processing SETI workloads for around 2 years.

My machine is a Macintosh Power PC 6500, it is fairly old, but does 300MHz and is a very solid machine. There are a few other Macs around the place, but they are more for the kids these days,

I play with numbers, dabble with some programming and that's work! For fun I like computer games, and martial arts.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I like being part of a world wide effort, I don't know if anything will come of it, but we have to try. I'm a science fiction fan since a teenager and I find SETI is a small part I can play in the broad canvas of life.

One issue that recurs in this area is the implications of finding other intelligent(?) life. We tend to project our own thoughts and feelings, when it is most likely that they would be quite inappropriate for another intelligent species.

I do believe though, that one aspect that may be universal is to look for other intelligent species, and so we may not be the only ones searching. There may well be a number of other intelligent species at our level of knowledge, but to find such a species within a 100 LY is a very small probability.

Still as we all know, very small probabilities do occur, so why not go for it.
