Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I personally never see anything that would lead me to believe that their are aliens that have visited this planet but as others claim to have seen things and witnessed accounts of alien visitations, i will keep an open mind on the subject. The vastness of space and the amount of galaxys is mind boggleing and it's harder for me to believe that no inteligent life exists outside this little planet we call earth than it would be to believe there is. the math suggests there is. as to when and how to find such life, your guess is as good as mine, their are other forms of communication than sound or sight so we should be looking at other avenues of communication also. the benifits and dangers are both equal but the rewards could be worth the chance, if we are going to do it let's just do it and take our chances like a coin toss we have a fifty fifty chance of good or bad. the dangers are to numerous to mention here but then so are the benifits. man never advanced to where he is now , without taking chances.

as far as transmitting a beacon to contact et, well it's a gamble as to whether or not they will be friendly, understand what it is or even listening that is if we do find them at all, but then the human race would never have advanced by playing it safe. life is full of chances that if not taken we loose out. it's hard to say what to transmit because the possibilitys of their understanding any of our forms of communication are as remote as the possibilitys of finding them. even if they were face to face with us, there's nothing to say that they would even understand or have anything resembling our sences such as smell, sound ,sight, touch, ect..... so this is a very hard question, how do we communicate with something we don't know about. how would you communicate with a fish or a bug, even if they were inteligent, lol

I run seti at home to find out if there is i'm willing to take that chance:( knowledge dosen't make a good scientist curiosity does ).
