Personal background
I'm an enthusiast, of sorts, from Milwaukee, WI. I currently work as a barista at a 24 hour internet cafe called Node. It's a neat little spot. You should check it out.

Besides that, I spend my time persuing various creative interests... music, drawing, painting, technology... arts of all kinds. I realized some time ago that I don't feel like specializing. So, I'll do it all and see where that leads.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Having been a participant for around 7 years now (WOW!), most of this for me is now about processing all the data. Accomplishing that task, alone, is enough for me because I do believe it's worth the search.

On the other hand, I have a healthy skepticism concerning whether or not this is where E.T.I. will be found... Lately, I get the sense that we have already been contacted, and that the source of that communication might also be found at molecular or subatomic levels... the things I've read about string theory lead me to think in this direction, though I can't exactly call myself a scientist. If we can consciously navigate our native bonds to multiple dimensions, then earth could be the only spaceship we really need. If there's a real need to populate other planets, then I feel our species will naturally evolve towards that end. At this point, I don't think it hurts to explore.

If there is a chance that humans have been contacted and someone knows, then that truth must be revealed to all of us... I don't really lend too much credence to the idea of humanoid visitors coming here in UFOs, however. Maybe it's possible. That would be cool.

The key word in this search is "intelligence", which might come in many forms... the signals we're looking for here seem like a sort of needle in an incredibly huge haystack.. that we have an entire community searching for. Hopefully it's not at the expense of productive searches in other areas.
