| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Every once in a while I buy a lottery ticket. I don't check it right away. I carry it around in my pocket for a couple of months. That way, I get the pleasure of, possibly, carrying around a couple of million dollars in my pocket. So far, I haven't won a penny, but it only costs me about $10.00 per year.
SETI@home is kind of like that. It costs me basically nothing, but the benefits are potentially huge. I also get a kick out of being a small part of something so important. There's also the fun of linking my computers at home and at work through BOINC. |
