Personal background
I am from the upper midwest. A 33 year old school bus driver that loves reading, and writing. Single mother of 4 too. When it isn't freezing cold up here, I like taking my kids outside for fun.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think E.T. life exists. Yes, I firmly do.
When I was 7, my mother and I saw a ufo. Back in 1977, if you were to say that out loud, people thought you were crazy. So I kept quiet.
Now it is safe to talk about.
I think it will happen when humans cease to be hot headed and warlike, and the way it looks, it isn't going to be a short wait. Humans won't discover it, when and if they choose to come to us is the way I believe it will happen.

The benefit of that type of discovery is that we will know that there is a much larger scope that we had no clue over, and the curious human in me would love to see it. The danger is (in my opinion) all of the closed minded people that refuse to believe that there is anything outside of their own 'back yard' (Earth). It would throw their little worlds into chaos, and warp the way they view reality.

If humans were to send a beacon, I wold certianly hope it stresses that not all humans like war and fighting.

I run Seti@home because I hope that it is helping. Plus, it looks nice, and my youngest kids love watching the program run. I have it run all the time, except when there is electrical storms.
