Personal background |
I've been an amatuer astronomer for many years, I did alot of camping & navigation by the stars while a member of the Scout Association. After a few more years on the road, I eventually settled down, miss those experiences but everyone moves on.
Its been a long time since then and now I tend to do those sort of things virtually rather than in reality, and make sure there's plenty of power in my system to cope with that. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
There is too much likelihood of similar conditions out there 'somewhere' for Earth to be the only life bearing planet, & even if its not a lifeform we'd be initially familiar with, its out there.
We probably run many more & bigger beacons than is thought about already. The first transmissions to be found, by us or them, are likely to be leaked signals like radio or television broadcasts.
I run SETI@home so that the $$$ invested in this computer don't go to waste for most of the day, & you never know, I might help find the evidence to prove that other civilisations are active on other planets.
