Personal background
Well, where to begin! I learned about S.E.T.I. from an ex-girlfriend (that's a different story!), however that was atleast 3 years ago, I finally pulled my preverbial finger out and got internet access on my home PC (AMD Athlon XP1700 , 512Mb SDRAM @ 133Mhz on Win XP Prof), one of the first tasks i performed was downloading SETI@home.

As for my hobbies, well I'm a keen pool & snooker player really that's about it, bit boring I know, come the 'summer' (well i live in Britain after all!) I do get a bit more active, however through 2 knee dislocations my activities are limited, cycling & walking being my favourites.

I recommend that you download SetiDriver (if you haven't already). I was averaging 1 unit about every 16 hours or so, it now only takes 5 hours! SetiSpy is really good aswell.

Feel free to send me an email, i am not quite as sad as this profile makes out...honest!

Hope you enjoy reading it, as much as I had fun writing it!

p.s. If you're interested I live in South Yorkshire, England. If you weren't, well you know now anyway so it's tough!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am considered a little sad at times for my love of Sci-Fi programs, be they fact or fiction, i do very strongly believe that there is life beyond our little system, it would be a bit arrogant to think otherwise, or atleast that's my take on it all. With todays technology advancing rapidly I would hope that we will discover intelligent life within my life time, however I can't forsee space travel getting us further than Mars, or maybe the asteroid belt, before my final breath.

I would hope that, should we find ET, or Alf(!), that they would be inquisitive, rather than aggressive (as is more often than not portrayed on TV). It wouldn't even surprise me if some government agency was covering up proof of their existence for the 'greater good.'

But, to tell the truth, when all is said and done, I'll be happy if they look like Dax! (Star Trek DS9).

From the moment I heard about SETI I thought it was a good idea, my computer is always on now crunching data so that hopefully I can find Dax! Oh, well atleast i could dream!!!

Sorry, got lost in the thought there!

Keep up the good work guys, and my computer time will remain yours...
