Profile: Dr Jones

Personal background
I'm the one and only Dr Jones, hailing from the city of Liverpool in the UK (where i'm studying for a BSc in Information Systemsm with all them benefits of sudent life.

Arianrhod is the computer who does SETI number crunching, it has 3 harddisks (60GB, 20GB and 2.5GB), an Athlon XP1800 Processor and a huge 1GB RAM. Arianrhod is the name of a traditional welsh goddess, in case anyone is interested. Internet access for Arianrhod come courtesy of the University internet connection, meaning that you can guarantee that KaZaA is running whenever the machine is on.

There is also another computer I use often, my Laptop (called Rhiannon). Unfortunately this does not contribute to SETI@home as it is not always on, and is a lot more limited insofaras having resources (it is a K6-III 500MHz with a measely 192MB RAM). Rhiannon is another traditional welsh goddess, strangely enough!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. It may not be as intelligent as us, but in a theoretically limitless universe, there has to be some chance of an interlectual equal race of beings.

I do believe that we should transmit a beacon for others to find, what have we got to loose!
