Currently I am an undergraduate student at Virginia Tech, majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Philosophy (yes--all three). Interests in rare moments not occupied by school work include amateur radio and billiards.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As a matter of high probability, intelligent extraterrestial life almost definitely exists. Its discovery will distinguish the trivial from the truly significant in our self-preception as sentient beings.

Humans should certainly transmit a becon for others to find! At the very least, we should include our location, approximate age of our civilization, a brief message of goodwill, and an invitation to visit.

I run SETI@home to keep my computer busy, to contribute to a good cause, as a burn-in tool, as a benchmark, for another system tray icon...the list goes on.
