I am from Los Angeles. I am 28 years old, and I consider myself an amateur astronomer. I have been interested in the SETI project for quite sometime. It has always been my dream job to work in the actual SETI lab as a computer programmer or something.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Its rather naive to suggest that we are the only creatures to live in this universe. We are certainly not the only intelligent ones. I believe it would be a good thing to negotiate with extraterrestrial races for good. I believe the benefits outweigh the dangers.
I think humans should send a beacon, to let others know that there is a space-faring race, admittedly in its infancy. :)
I run the SETI@Home project because I would like to make a contribution to this effort.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
