Backgroud:
As a kid, I was intriqued in sciences. I've always loved the stars and how things are made from the smallest blocks. Star Wars is my favorite movie and remains so even to today. Though realistically, I do not anticipate star destroyers flying around in space, I think that the universe is way too big to have just one technological specie. Heck, we can't even get radio waves from the whole universe. We we can receive signals from is only the so called 'visible universe'. There are still alot more out there that we can't see. (I hope I am saying this right....)
As a recent believer in Christ, I know God created us. But God did not say what else he created for us to find out there. So hence this interesting search to see if there is anything out there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Whoever thought of this project is a genius! With just mainframes, they ought to get outdated (hence SLOW) with time, no matter how fast they are. But with a way to put this analysis on the Net, we tend to follow Moore's Law and upgrade our computing speed over time. This will of course speed up analysis and hopefully, we can find ET.
