Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I absolutely believe in extraterrestrial life, however it scares me to think that we may eventually make contact (if we haven't already). In my heart I would like to think that we are evolved enough to handle contact with another world but I look around and see that sometime we lack the inner strength and security needed to associate with extraterrestrials.
Another part of me believes that we have already made contact and that all of this may be a clever scam in order to divert attention away from the fact that the "aliens" are here. (Maybe I've watched too many X-Files)
I run the SETI project so that I can do my part in analyzing the information collected. I think the project is incredible. It's staggering to see how many people are willing to help and to what extent some users have gone in order to help. Good job everyone. I am looking forward to the implementation of BOINC.
