Personal background
I still remember when an acquaintance of mine told me about SETI@home. At the time, we were both working at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Emeryville, California. He moved to Rhode Island with his family, and a couple of years later, I left the company as well to pursue personal fitness training. I'm still in the bay area and now live in San Francisco.

Besides torturing people for a living :) I enjoy indoor (sport) rock climbing and hiking. I'm part of a "micro" investment club that meets once a month to debate about various investments. I sing with the Univ. of CA Alumni Chorus (Go Bears!) and we usually have a couple of concerts in the Fall and Spring.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Sometimes I feel that by donating some computer time, even a little bit, for something as magnanimous as searching for intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, I'm part of a bigger community of people who still has hope. I think that with all that is going on in the world (and historians can argue, what has really changed?), that this "endeavor" to communicate with others in the universe creates more hope for a different world. In any case, as the human species discover more things about the world and ourselves, we'll become more ready when the time comes and this "pale blue dot" won't be as alone as it once was.
