Personal background |
I'm a manufacturing engineer working in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose, CA USA. I was born in 1957 and enjoy working with my hands. I like to build model ships made from wood, and thoroughly enjoy all things Star Trek. I'm originally a New Yorker, but have been here in CA since the summer of 1993.
I'm currently going back to school with the University of Phoenix Online for a BSBM. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I'm a believer in that we are not alone in this universe, and that there are life forms out there other than our own. I'd like to think that we will be able to meet peacefully with each other one day, and that we will both benefit from it.
I'm running SETI@Home so that we can process the information/noise that we have thus far gathered. With the home PC power that is available today, we can cut through that information very quickly. It would be a great thing to be able to catch up so that information will be processed in real time rather than a couple of months after gathering the information. Wouldn't it be awful to get a message from someone out there and find out that what the sender got in reply was an answering machine? |
