Personal background
I am a 53 year old RF communications engineer, having lived in Japan for 30 years. I finally built my own custom PC, which has always been on my "bucket list". I modded the rig to the max, and have a lot more CPU/PC power than I really need. As I no longer calculate RF radiation patterns for Motorola, my custom toy is a fine fit for crunching data for a useful global effort. My email name "kakerushun1" represents my son's names; Kakeru, Shun, and Ryu. The "1" was used for Ryu's name because when I created that email account; my wife and I had not decided on his name yet.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first started with this project when I worked for Motorola in Japan. Being in the telecommunications field, this project was the "geeky" thing to do at the time. I have been constantly impressed with how this project has advanced from those early days, and enjoy contributing my custom PC's cycles to this global effort!
