Personal background
I am an ordained minister in the ULC and a doctor of metaphysics. I am a big fan of the open-source movement . I love my Linux box . My computer is my pride and joy. It has 2 Pentium Xeon chips each at 2.2 gig . It boasts 1 gig of memory and over 200 gigs of hard drive. I like to use SETI to bench-mark my systems. I did notice that Linux was greatly faster than Windows Xp. I don't do windows.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is a big universe and there could be aliens but I doubt they are as much fun as running Seti on my Linux box.

If extraterrestrial life exists they will most likely just ignore us and hope we just go away on our own.

I don't know if we will find them or if they will find us but, if extraterrestrial life exists then the benefits could be staggering.

I think we should transmit a beacon for others to find using laser and radio.
This project is a succes already as this is a diverse group of people from around the world working with each other. The project's structure can easily be applied to other projects for discovery.
