Personal background
I live in Mount Isa Queensland Australia, and am 24 years of age. I currently work as a survey technician and study mechanical engineering via correspondence. I like cars old prop planes and computers.

I decided to install this software onto my computer because I thought that having it on 24 hours a day and not doing anything was a waste of good electricity, and it looks like I'm working when I'm cleaning my nails :)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that there is more life out there, just not intelligent. I think that the most likely form of life elsewhere is just single celled organisms living in extreme environments. It may turn out that we are the strange looking things that go probing unsuspecting other beings.

If we were to transmit a beacon for another civilisation to find it would have to be something simple and universal, like the periodic table, however this may reveal to advanced aggressive creatures, 1 where we are and 2, that we're not so advanced!! Perhaps only the first eight elements would be a good packet to send.

I run this program because I didn't want my computer to be idle wasting electricity that I still have to pay for even if I'm not using this machine. Do you hire a cleaner to sit around in the coffee room? NO. Get em to clean the toilets.
