Personal background
I\\'m a 41 y/o guy from St. Louis who got fired from my job back in 2000 for running the Seti@Home screensaver client on a company computer!! (one of the best things that ever happened to me; there was just no love at that place, anyway) Since then, I have let manifest my interest in science, computers and space by creating my own successful computer repair business, where I have always had 1 or 2 machines running the Seti client. To date, (12/2005) I have processed over 10,700 Seti work units myself. They are out there, kids- Keep on Crunchin\\'!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe we are all on an evolutionary journey together that will take us to places and levels of existence that we are not even capable of conceiving at this point. But wouldn\\'t it be wonderful if we could find fellow travelers along the way to compare notes with?

The project itself is a brilliant way to handle a massive processing task. It has literally brought millions of peoples from all over the globe together for a single unified purpose. The day we do finally come face to face with an extraterrestrial intelligence, we will see the Billions on earth come together- Seti may very well be the mechanism that alerts us that the time has come.

As with humankind, the Seti project will need to evolve to be successful as well. I feel like something will need to be done with light to speed up the process. I think photons or other yet to be discovered particles will need to be utilized as they are much faster and are able to travel farther than just radio waves.
