Personal background
I'm 23 now, but will I live to see 24, the way things is goin', I don't know.

8\29\2004: I just installed BOINC on one computer, but I'm goin to use classic for a while longer mainly cuz I don't trust BOINC yet. I have classic on two computers and I'm going to install on the third in a couple days as soon as my dad gets done with it. I'm probably going to set up a couple of older computers specifically for cmdline processinging. They are slower, but they still work and they might as well do something other than sit here in my room collecting dust. Hey, who knows...maybe I'll find an ET.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ETs must exist somewhere in space, but when and where are they? Do they still exist or have they gone to war and destroyed themselves. Do they have wars anymore? There are so many unknowns. If we could at least discover a signal from them, either planned or unplanned communication, it would greatly increase our knowledge of space just to know that ETs exist.

SETI@home is an excellent way for regular people to join in the search and look for ETs. The processing power of over 4 million users would be great, if even half would actually run the program. ETs are out there, we just need to find them.

I think the biggest thing about SETI is the frequencies and sky covered. Do ETs broadcast in those frequencies and are ETs in the area of the sky that is scanned? There is no way to know for sure. Hopefully the expansion occurs soon, so that maybe someday we will be able to know where ETs are at.
