My name is Hans de Groot. I'm married with Ria. My profession is teacher for adults in civil engineering (people that are busy in Infratechnology like roads, waterways, pipelining, etc.)
My hobbies are ten-pin bowling (as a sport), formula 1 and music (jazzdrummer and singing bass in a close-harmony group) |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. Yes I'm convinced that extraterrestial life exists. We, humans, will discover that in a few decades. The benefits could be to learn more about the universe, the danger could be that the other lifeform likes to conquer other worlds.
2. As I remember, years ago NASA send a beacon (Pioneer-project). The information we should send must be mathematical. For example the (in Dutch priemgetallen) figures 1,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41, and so on. The other lifeform should recognize that as a civilisation.
3. I run SETI@home because the enormous amount of data cannot be analysed in a short time by one computer. |
