Personal background
I am an environmental engineer from the Netherlands, and while I am writing reports about soil pollution, my computer crunches units. Yeah, it's only one computer, so things go slow on the unit count. But, as the Dutch proverb goes: a lot of breadcrums make a whole bread.

I am a member of the SETI@Netherlands group because we stand strong together, and if there's intelligence out there, a Dutchman should find it ;-P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life exists with a probability so close to 100% it just has to be out there. But how can we expect it to be the 'hydrocarbon-DNA' based stuff that walks this planet? I do not know what to expect. Will it have culture? Or know love, hate, sadness or joy? We shouldn't fear the unknown...

And that's why sending out a beacon isn't a bad idea. It will only reach those who have the ability to recieve it though... So what signal to choose? As long as it isn't transmissions of the 'Jerry Springer' show hehe...

Keep on the search! GOGOGO!
