Personal background
Hi, I'm from the netherlands and I joined Seti in 1999 but after a reinstall I forgot all about it (windowz you know). I installed it again on a new machine and it started crunching and calculating just like in the ol'days!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that there are 'aliens' out there, maybe smarter more civilised or just some guys who love to cruise in their neat saucer. The discovery of alien (human-like) lifeforms sounds awesome.
But then i think that people always destroy what they don't understand, so that may be one good reason for them not to show up in public. On the other hand it could bring nations together and form a earthcounsil or something (sounds corny) because somebody has to represent this little planet.

If there's a message to be send in outer space it should be about peace, love and familylife and things. Giving them nuclair secrets..... i don't know, doesn't seem smart (for their and our sake).

I hope that through this project there will be a definite anwser to the question "Are we alone?" backed up with scientific data. So we finally get to sleep well at night and dream of little aliens.
