Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I firmly believe that life exist beyond the bounds of this planet. The truth really is OUT THERE. In our planet alone, millions of lifeforms are still waiting to be discovered so its very likely that other lifeforms abounds the universe awaiting our discovery. This may happen not in my lifetime but at least in the course of my life, I tried to find it by participating in SETI@home. Sending a beacon can be a viable project but since we do not know what kind of lifeforms are likely to find it, the information contained in the beacon should be on how we can COMMUNICATE with the finder, not on how the finder can FIND us. I run SETI@home because I think it' a very worthwhile project. In the infancy of our species, we are like children in the dark grasping for knowledge. I think this project enables us to dig a little deeper into the mysteries of the universe as we try to answer the question, "Are We Alone?" Hopefully, the answer is NO.
