Personal background
Originally from Vietnam. My home state is Hawaii, but also lived in Harlingen, TX, Charleston, SC, and Vegas, NV. Currently, I'm back in Hawaii. I do computer work and I'm also working on a retail website.

I just started a group/club here called, Vulcan Klan. Anyone interested in space exploration, Star Trek, science fiction and technology is welcomed to join. I think that should just about cover everyone here :)

I will be putting up a group website soon so check back for the web address. Email me at Vulcan_Klan@yahoo.com
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ET most probably exists. We will probably find life beyond our planet within the next 150 years. Our technology is growing by leaps and bounds. I think our ability to detect other life will be sufficiently increased within this time. I just hope it happens soon so that I will know my place in the universe before my light goes out.

I thought we were already transmitting a beacon for others to find. You mean, we're not? I don't think we should send out a beacon for them to find, at least not until we are able to defend ourselves. We can't just assume an advanced alien civilization will be benevolent. Better safe than sorry.

I run SETI@home because I just upgraded to a really fast computer and I thought it would be a shame to waste all that processing power on web browsing and emails. SETI@home runs in the background and I don't even notice that its on. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of my Athlon 1200 (overclocked to 1330) any. Also, it gave me a chance to be part of something great. Its not everyday that an average citizen gets to participate in the space program.
