| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I think extraterrestrial life may exist. There certainly has to be some intelligent life somewhere in this universe, as it's obviously not on this planet.
Personally, I think that the Earth is sort of the Alabama of the Universe. Extraterrestrials look at us like we're a bunch of hicks on some space version of the Jerry Springer show. I don't think we'll actually make contact until it's obvious that our species has either evolved to the next level, and left behind all the needless violence and fighting, or else, once we've anihilated enough of our own population that we're no longer much of a threat to other species/planets.
I run SETI because it's always fun to see the progress my computers are making towards my rank among the other SETI users. Besides.. I've got a ton of spare hardware.. might as well use it for something. |
