Personal background
I'm a recent Ph.D. graduate in biology from Riverside, California. I enjoy keeping busy as an amateur nature photographer. I recently took a job in western Colorado, and I look forward to clean air and wide-open spaces.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When one considers the vast size of the universe, there is no question that we are not alone. However, the likelihood that the life out there is "intelligent" or even near enough to detect is a big uncertainty. Just considering all the species on this planet (most of which are undescribed), we are the only one capable of probing the skies for life. If we are going to discover extra-terrestrial life, it can only be accomplished by large-scale efforts such as SETI, and a multi-national space exploration program. The needle in the haystack may be small, but by a methodical search method, we'll get results one way or another.
