Personal background
I am a software engineer living in Hertfordshire in England.
I am a real geek who's into computers, technology, science etc but I also enjoy the outdoors (walking, climbing, camping etc)...it's a shame the two hobbies don't mix.

I have a great family and we have two young kids so they keep me busy when I am not coding or camping. When I wear my SETI@home T-Shirt my 3 year old daughter thinks it's something to do with our settee at home :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am pretty sure there must be some other life out there, perhaps not little green men; I expect they would look nothing like us at all. I am not sure that meeting ET would bring about world peace or make us humans change our behaviour at all, but it sure would be exciting, maybe it might rekindle our desire to travel and explore in space, maybe they could give us a cure for cancer.

I run SETI@home on many machines both at home and work. It keeps my CPUs busy (idle hands, idle minds etc) and runs as a screensaver to avoid burnt in images on my monitors. Also I think it's a great experiement in the power people have when the work together, I know many other projects have since copied the idea but SETI is the original and best!
