Personal background
I'm in Pittsburgh (originally from Slippery Rock, PA) and work as the supervisor of the network engineers at the network operations center at the University of Pittsburgh. For hobbies (when and if I get time) I collect Marklin model trains, read, exercise (is that a hobby?), and ocassionally launch model rockets.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I think it's an important project and since we've got ample idle CPU cycles, we might as well use them for somethign worthwhile. 2) I think searching for extra-terrestrials is a good idea, although I'm not convinced that there is life outside our world, it would be a shame to not look for it.
