Personal background
I'm from the Detroit area of Michigan, I'm 57 years old, used to work as
a mainframe computer consultant until we outsourced all the jobs here in the
USA.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course I think extraterrestrial life exists. I guess projects like this
one are likely to discover ET unless he drops down and announces himself, which
he has probably already done sometime in our history.
We are probably more of a danger to them than they are to us given our
uncivilized ways of dealing with things.
We already have been beaming TV and radio signals into space for several
decades, just hope whomever happens to recieve and decode them has a sense
of humor.
I believe we should transmit a beacon for others to find, perhaps with
simple pictures and an explanation of our simple binary coding systems, and
maybe something in all of the major languages spoken here on Earth including
perhaps sounds from intelligent marine life as well seeing as how most of
our planet is covered with water.
I currently run seti@home on all 5 computers in our home network.
I run seti in the hopes of being the lucky one whose machine decodes the
first real message from out there.
I believe the seti project should be expanded beyond the narrow scope it's
currently looking thru to discover extraterrestrial life.
