Personal background
Just an average guy who loves the thought that we may not be alone in this big universe; at least I hope not. My parents always took us (two other brothers) star gazing when we were young. I love going camping out where the city lights don't ruin the view.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don't think humans will discover extraterrestrial life. It's kind of like Christopher Columbus, he didn't discover America, the native indians knew it was here all the time! The benefits and dangers are very evident, we could be like food to them... or... they could teach us how to solve all our problems.
When extraterrestrials are ready, I think they will contact us. I think maybe they are a little confused about us though; If they have the capability to recieve our old radio and TV signals. Although on the other hand, they maybe extremely primative to us, existing day to day, foraging for food and shelter.
