Personal background
I'm a nearly 26 year old female and a car mechanic. I come from Germany and have many hobbies, so I won't tell about it all ;). I'm playing Ultima Online on a freeshard in my freetime. As a child I was interested in Astronomy and I always thought, that we are not alone. When I had a BBS my Computer was 24h running. As it went down I was looking for something that my Computer could make and I found Seti@Home.
As I am a car mechanic I am "fighting" for females to do men's work. In germany it is hard to get a "men's" job. They come with arguments like:"We don't have toilets for women" etc. I sometimes ask me where all the womens go, that want their car repaired, because the most are waiting for their cars.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think that there is ET somewhere, but I don't think we'll find it in my life. I think they will find us, before we do. I don't really know if we should send a signal. If we send sometime one, I think it should be a binary format with informations about our DNA, where we are etc. and a friendly message.
I run Seti@home because I think that we aren't alone. I always like to help others, so why shouldn't my computer do something for science?
