Personal background
I'm from Des Moines, IA. I'm 18 years old with 34 years of experience (52 yrs to you non math majors). I'm a Microsoft Access Database creator/administrator.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think that there is most certainly extraterrestrial life out there somewhere. We will probably find them landing on our doorstep first. I would have a hard time believing that they would come all this way to be a danger to us.

2. Transmitting a beacon might be a good idea although we've been sending radio waves into space for a long time already. The info we should send, probably math.

3. I run SETI@home to aid in the finding of extraterrestrial life, I think it's a worthwhile project. As for suggestions, I'd like to listen to the audio of the packets that the pc is processing.
