Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think aliens exist, as to when or how we find out for sure, only time will tell. When we do find out, it could be benificial in the manner of technology, and perhaps ways that we have not thought of yet. As for dangers, who knows, hostility, unknown illnesses.
Transmitting a beacon for others to find is a good idea, if it is recieved it shows that there is an intelligent race down here and we are looking for others. For what we send, it is a matter of opinion, whether it be a msg of pure mathmatics, the "universal" language, or one of other origin that would tell who we are as a race.
I run SETI@Home because of my belief in aliens, and wanting to help in any way I can. I think the project itself is a wonderful idea, and I am glad to be a part of it. Can ot think of any ways to improve it off the top of my head.
